Hibooks review

Last updated:

Tuck into a book club-like audiobook subscription service with unlimited titles at up to 80% off.

Hibooks is an audiobook provider that functions as a book club: You pay a yearly membership fee, and then purchase each title at a discount of up to 80% off the market price. Listeners who read through more than one or two titles a month will likely benefit most from a subscription like this. However, the confusing coin-rewards system could leave some listeners cold.

What is Hibooks?

Hibooks has 5,000 audiobooks on its platform that you can listen to as you like. However, the vast bulk of the 100,000+ audiobooks library comes at an additional cost.

Hibooks is essentially an audiobooks book club. Its annual membership fee of $42 grants you access to the club , including 5,000 audiobooks.

You also get a free audiobook upon signup from a solid reading selection, plus 200 bonus coins. Where many audiobook providers use a credit system, hibooks uses coins, but the concept is the same — you use coins to “unlock” new audiobooks.

Different coins carry different currencies — in the hundreds and thousands — but they match their dollar equivalent when you drop the last two zeros, and an average book costs 1,000 coins. And you can buy as many coins as you want.

Expert review

Hibooks offers an audiobooks subscription service that requires a yearly fee — but that gives you a hefty discount on each title, which are unlimited. But with a confusing rewards system and claims of bait-and-switch from former users, you might want to shop around to find the best audiobooks provider.
