Gods Unchained is a blockchain-based trading card game (TCG). It was founded by Immutable X founders, brothers James and Robbie Ferguson.
The game’s development is being led by former Magic: The Gathering Arena director, Chris Clay. A primary goal of Gods Unchained is to give players ownership over their in-game items – meaning they can sell, distribute or trade their cards in whatever way they like. In this sense, Gods Unchained is trying to emulate the experience of owning physical trading cards in the digital realm.
Gods Unchained is a complex strategy game where players must build their decks via card packs, or by winning games against other people. Each deck will have strengths and weaknesses, and opponents must react to each others’ decks and come up with a tactic to exploit any obvious deficiencies. The gaming platform is predominantly focused on competitive, multiplayer competitions, with prize pools of up to $570,000. Unlike other “free-to-play” games, where over $74 billion is spent on in-game purchases per year, Gods Unchained can be played without having to spend a cent.
GODS is the native token to Gods Unchained’s game, and forms the vital framework of the platform’s economy. Not only are they used to purchase and trade cards on the peer-to-peer marketplace, these ERC-20 tokens also perform basic blockchain utilities, such as governance and staking.
