The Gap Visa® Credit Card is made for those who often shop at Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta. With this card, you get a reward rate of 5 on in store or online purchases, cardmember benefits such as bonus points toward Gap Silver status. It also carries no annual fee.
Aside from a few naming conventions, the Gap Visa® Credit Card is identical to the Banana Republic credit card. That means you can earn points with this card at Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta and Hill City.
Unfortunately, that means this card also comes with the same downsides as the Banana Republic card: a somewhat lackluster signup bonus, limited redemption options and a high APR. You might find some value in this card if you shop frequently at the Gap family brands, but you’re more likely to get better value from a general rewards card.
- Signup bonus.
Get free shipping and save 20% on your first Gap or Gap Factory purchase made within 30 days of account opening. Plus, get 3,000 bonus points for a purchase made outside of the Gap brands within the same 30–days period.
- Reward points.
Earn 5x points on all in-store or online purchases at Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta, and 1x points on all other purchases.
- Gap benefits.
Enjoy 10% discounts at Gap and Gap Factory stores, use bonus-point shopping days and get a birthday gift.
- Gap Silver status.
Earn 5,000 bonus points in a calendar year to enjoy Silver status. This comes with benefits such as 20% bonus points each quarter, choose your own sale day, free online shipping and more. You need to earn 5,000 points each year to maintain your status.
- No annual fee.
Use the card’s perks without paying an annual fee.
What to watch out for
- High APR.
Incur a high APR of 25.99% variable if you fail to pay your credit card balance in full. If you often carry your balance, a low APR credit card could be a better choice.
- No balance transfer option.
Unfortunately, you can’t move any balance to this card. If that’s what you want, compare balance transfer credit cards.
- Limited redemption options.
Redeem your points only at Gap Inc. store locations.
- Foreign transaction fees.
Incur a 3% fee of the amount of each transaction made abroad.
You can earn accelerated rewards at Gap stores with other credit cards.
Some credit cards offer shopping portals where you can earn accelerated rewards points on select stores, including stores within the Gap brand.
