The Fuelman Diesel Advantage Fleet Card is a closed-loop card that lets your fleet make fuel and maintenance purchases within the Fuelman Network. It also lets you set purchase controls and download detailed transaction reports. Unfortunately, the card is weighed down by a high program administration fee of up to 10 cents per gallon or $2 per transaction, as well as a monthly card fee of up to $10 per card.
This card is designed for fleets that spend heavily on diesel, as you can save big per gallon in volume rebates — up to 15 cents per gallon. Note, however, that you’ll know your fuel minimums only after you’re approved for the card.

Card benefits
Earn rebates by purchasing diesel fuel in volume. You’ll earn a rebate of at least 4 cents a gallon on all diesel for the first 12 months. You may earn more — up to an advertised 15 cents a gallon — but you won’t know minimum purchase requirements until after card approval. After your first year as a cardmember, Fleetcor re-evaluates your account and rebate rate.
Card purchase controls. Limit your employee’s purchases by gallons, dollar amount, merchant category codes, time or day of the week, or for fuel and maintenance purchases only. You can also employ confirmation of driver and vehicle ID and odometer reading.
Fraud monitoring. You’ll receive text and email alerts for unusual transactions. Through your online dashboard, you can monitor purchase activity in real-time.

What to watch out for
Not all purchases qualify for rebates. You won’t earn rebates on international fuel purchases, bulk fuel, flights and spending at some merchants.
Not a revolving account. If you don’t pay your entire balance after each billing cycle, Fleetcor charges a late fee and you’ll accrue interest at a 32% variable APR.
A security deposit may be required. Depending on your credit, Fleetcor could require you to pay a security deposit, or reserve amount. This gives your a credit line that’s 80% of your deposit.

How does Fleetcor determines my account is high-risk?
You could pay an extra 30-cent-per-gallon fee if your account is high-risk. Fleetcor determines you high-risk if:
You have a commercial credit score below 530.
You have a personal credit score below 670.
Your credit score decreases by 51 or more points within a three-month rolling period.
You’ve had more than one late fee within a 12-month rolling period.
You’re more than 30 days late on payments within a 12-month rolling period.
You make a payment and your bank doesn’t honor it.

How to apply for the Fuelman Diesel Advantage Fleet Card
Navigate to the Fuelman website and click Apply now.
Fill out the form with details such as your business contact information, number of vehicles and business annual income.
Review your application and submit it.
What credit score do I need?
You may qualify for this card with at least a fair credit score of 580 or higher. Fleetcor considers other factors and ultimately decides on your approval and APR.
Bottom line
This card offers an impressive max rebate of 15 cents per gallon on diesel. However, Fleetcor charges administrative and card fees, which can severely cut into your savings.
It could. If Fleetcor reviews your account and determines it’s not satisfied with your financial condition, it may require you to put down an additional security deposit.
A revolving account lets you carry a balance and pay a minimum payment each billing cycle. You’re allowed to carry a balance on a revolving account as long as you make the minimum payment each billing cycle. With a non-revolving account, you must pay off your entire balance before being re-issued new credit.
With a fleet card account, you can set cost controls and view transactions in detail. You may also earn rebates when you buy fuel in volume.
