What is N26?

N26, originally called Number 26, was founded in February 2013 and is currently headquartered in Berlin. While it’s run out of Germany, it’s available in a number of countries throughout Europe as well as the UK and has recently launched in the US. N26 currently offers a number of personal and business bank account options as well as an app and cards.

How does N26 work?

When you sign up with N26 you have three options to choose from: the N26 account, N26 You or N26 Metal. All three accounts come with a Mastercard, an app, free ATM withdrawals in Euros and free payments in any currency. You’ll also benefit from spending insights, security features, and convenient features to help you understand and manage your money.

You manage your N26 account out of the app, which is accessible from your smartphone, or the N26 web app.

What features do you get with N26 in France?

You get a number of features with N26, including:

  • Make transfers. With N26 you can send, receive and even request money from friends instantly.
  • Google Pay and Apple Pay. You can make contactless payments with your smartphone by adding your N26 card to Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  • In-app security. You’re able to set and change daily spend and withdrawal limits, reset your PIN, lock or unlock your card and enable or disable online or foreign payments.
  • Spending statistics. Get automatic categorisation and breakdowns of your purchases and create your own personal tags to organise your transactions.

  • MoneyBeam. This feature lets you send money to your contacts without needing to know their bank details. Money is sent to fellow N26 users instantly or within two days if they’re not with N26.
  • IBAN. You’ll be able to set up direct debits and receive and make payments the way you would with a traditional bank.
