Euro Tether, or EURT, is a Euro-pegged stablecoin issued by Tether Limited. Tether Limited is the company that developed and launched the US dollar stablecoin, USDT, which has become one of the largest stablecoins in the world by trading volume.
Moving on from the success of USDT, the company now offers a range of other stablecoins including EURT. Like USDT, EURT was developed to offer a stable environment where investors can secure funds and shelter them from the volatile cryptocurrency markets.
According to Tether’s website, all of the company’s stablecoins are backed 1:1 with fiat or collateralized reserves. EURT allows users to seamlessly move the equivalent value of Euros across the globe at fast speeds and at a fraction of the cost charged by the traditional banking system. Although EURT was developed on the Ethereum blockchain, Tether is reportedly expanding to other blockchains in the future. Any individual, business, or institution can apply to Tether Limited to utilise EURT. Once accepted the approved entity can deposit real Euros in exchange for EURT. Alternatively, EURT can also be accessed via cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide.
