Some cards from Citi — a finder.com advertising partner — come with purchase protection. This is a perk that offers reimbursement, replacement or repairs for eligible items purchased with your card that are damaged or stolen.

Does Citi have purchase protection?

Yes. Most Citi credit cards still offer this perk. Depending on the card, most come with 90 to 120 days coverage on up to $1,000 per claim or $10,000 per claim, and up to $50,000 per calendar year.

This coverage is better than Visa Signature cards that have standard coverage of $500 per claim.

Note: Some reports say that this perk is no longer available on Citi® Double Cash Card.

How to use Citi purchase protection

Citi purchase protection is automatically activated every time you use your eligible credit card. Here’s how it works:

  1. Make an eligible purchase with your Citi credit card.
  2. Call 866-918-4670 to get a claim form or download a claim form from cardbenefits.citi.com.
  3. Submit the completed form along with any additional documents within 180 days of the occurrence.
  4. Wait for your claim to be processed.
