Your guide to the Discover Refer-A-Friend program

Earn up to $500 annually by referring friends and family.

If you own an eligible Discover credit card and want to earn a statement credit reward, consider referring a friend or family member who doesn’t yet have a Discover card. If the person you refer is approved, you both earn a statement credit bonus.

Who can I refer to the program?

You can refer friends and family who don’t have a Discover credit card and have not opted out of receiving Discover marketing materials.

What cards can I refer?

To participate in Discover Refer-a-Friend, you must have one of the following cards:

  • Discover it® Miles Travel Credit Card
  • Discover it® Cash Back
  • Discover it® Student Cash Back
  • Discover it® Chrome Gas & Restaurant Card
  • Discover it® Chrome for Students

How much cash bonus can I earn?

The rewards you and your referred friend can earn with this program depends on the card you own.

How can I refer a friend?

The process is a simple three steps:

  1. Log in to your Discover online account.

What to watch out for

Discover Refer-a-Friend comes with restrictions that can prevent you from earning a referral reward, including:

  • Time restrictions.
You can earn a referral reward only if the person you refer applies and is approved by December 31, 2019.
  • Credit card restrictions.
You can’t use the referral program if you own the Discover it® Secured or the Discover it® Business Card.

Bottom line

If your family or friends don’t have a Discover card yet, you can both earn a one-time reward after they apply and are approved for a card through your personal referral link.

If you’d rather earn rewards without the hassle of referrals, consider applying for a credit card with a generous signup bonus.
