Learn more about airdrops
What is an airdrop?
An airdrop is when a cryptocurrency project distributes its cryptocurrency coins or tokens free of charge. Sometimes the coins are airdropped to users who already hold a project’s native coin, but at other times they’re distributed to people who hold a separate currency. For example, following the launch of the EOS mainnet, EOS token holders are set to receive free tokens from a number of other projects launching on the EOS network.
Why do cryptocurrency projects release airdrops?
The main goals of airdrops are to encourage the widespread adoption of a coin, reward loyal users and generate publicity and hype.
