Overview of Citi cashback credit cards
Citi offers just a few — but excellent — cashback cards. One gives flat-rate cash back and one offers everyday categories with a consumer or business option.
Citi® Double Cash Card
Citi also offers a great balance transfer intro APR from time to time that can help you knock out some existing debt.
Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi
If you like the card’s rewards and own a business, consider the Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card by Citi.
How to compare Citi cashback cards
- Look at your spending habits and what kind of cash back you want.
If you spend a lot on gas, dining, travel or Costco purchases, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi can offer attractive cash back. But if you don’t spend much in those categories or you spend evenly throughout many categories, the Citi® Double Cash Card might be a better choice.
- If you want the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi, the card might be more valuable if you already have a Costco membership.
The Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card by Citi doesn’t have an annual fee, but you must have a Costco membership. If you don’t shop at Costco at all but still want the card, the card’s annual fee is effectively $60 or $120 a year — the price of a membership.
- Consider whether you need an intro APR.
The Citi® Double Cash Card has an intro APR on balance transfers, while the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi doesn’t. Consider whether an intro APR is important to you to help you save on interest.
- Do you usually make card payments on time?
Citi is usually fairly unforgiving for late or returned payments, charging a 29.99% variable APR on all of your balances. If you don’t want the possibility of a penalty APR, consider a card from a different provider.
Citi offers just a few cashback cards, but they all offer excellent rewards. The Citi® Double Cash Card lets you earn strong flat-rate cash back, and the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi is an excellent choice for gas, dining and travel purchases.
If you’re not sure a Citi card is right for you, compare cards from other providers. You might find the perfect card by checking out Chase, American Express, Discover or another issuer.
