Have there been any controversies regarding Uber Eats in Cleveland?

In mid-November 2017, a 19-year-old female Uber Eats driver reported getting carjacked while delivering food in East Cleveland. The suspect was apparently the person who ordered the food. The suspect pulled a gun on the driver and fled the scene with her smartphone, other personal items and about $100 in cash. Cleveland police tried to gain access to the driver’s GPS records but have been told they need to subpoena to acquire them.

Why is there an additional fee being charged for ‘busy areas?’

If there are more orders than drivers at a certain restaurant or area of town, a busy area fee will be added on to insure that drivers will be motivated to take orders as they come in. This fee is calculated by how many people are using Uber Eats for a specific restaurant or area and how many Uber delivery drivers are on the road in that same area.
