Chase offers extended warranties with most of its personal credit cards and all of its business cards. These include the Chase Freedom Unlimited® credit card, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, most cobranded airline cards, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card and more.
Having this perk can give you peace of mind as it means getting a warranty that meets or exceeds what’s offered by the manufacturer.
What is Chase extended warranty?
As the name suggests, extended warranty perk extends the warranties of items you buy with an eligible Chase credit card. Your warranty can be extended by one additional year if the original warranty is less than three years. If the original warranty is more than three years, having this perk won’t make much of a difference.
The extension length is in line with most card providers that offer this perk. The only exception is Citi where the warranty is extended by two years.
How to use Chase extended warranties
Here’s how to activate your Chase extended warranty policy:
Charge at least a portion of an eligible item to your valid Chase credit card, or use your Chase rewards. Keep the receipt. If your item qualifies, your extended warranty will apply automatically — no registration required.
If there’s a product failure within the extended warranty period, contact your benefit administrator within 90 days.
Answer the representative’s questions and note the documents and information you must submit.
Complete and sign the extended warranty claim form. Return it, along with other requested information, to the benefit administrator within 120 days of the product failure.
Note: To qualify for this perk, your name has to be on an eligible, US-issued card.
How much am I covered for?
You’re covered up to the original price of the item, minus shipping and handling. The maximum coverage is $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account.
Are there any purchases that aren’t covered?
Your Chase extended warranty doesn’t apply to certain purchases, including:
Motorized vehicles such as boats and automobiles, as well as their equipment.
Costs that aren’t covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty.
Items you buy for resale, or for commercial or professional use.
Leased or rented items.
Pre-owned or used items.
Refurbished items qualify if they’re not used or pre-owned, and if they come with warranties.
