Review: Chase international money transfers – April 2018

Enjoy safe, reliable international money transfers.

One of the largest banks in the US, Chase offers its customers a secure and convenient way to send money worldwide in more than 35 currencies.

Initiate a transfer online or by visiting a Chase branch to send money to many destinations around the world. You can check the status of your transfer through your Chase banking account.

With more than 5,400 branches, 15,500 ATMs and online, mobile and phone banking solutions, Chase offers its financial products and services to personal and business customers all over the US.

Transfer money directly from your bank account

Send one-off or scheduled transfers from your Chase bank account. It’s a convenient option for Chase customers, but getting a bank account through Chase just to make a transfer might be a bit much for most people.

How much will I pay to transfer money with Chase?

Chase Bank’s transfer fees depend on whether you’re sending or receiving an international wire transfer:

  • To send an international wire transfer at a branch, you’ll pay $45.
  • To send an international wire transfer online, you’ll pay $40.
  • To receive an international wire transfer to your account, you’ll pay $15.

Exchange rates

Like any large bank, Chase updates its rates regularly in line with global currency market fluctuations. Its exchange rates are similar to those offered by other large US banks but not as attractive as the rates you’ll get by using an independent money transfer specialist.

Who charges less?

Independent transfer services usually win out over banks when it comes to fees. There are several providers who will send a transfer for free with competitive exchange rates, including OFX, HiFX, Transferwise and World First.

What types of transfers can I send with Chase?

You can send your international wire transfer on the same day or initiate a transfer for a future date online or at a Chase bank branch. If you submit your transfer by 4 p.m. ET, it will be process the same business day.

With online banking, you can send repeat wire transfers to the same recipient and delegate others to request and approve wire transfers.

Does Zelle work with Chase?

  1. Log in and select QuickPay with Zelle.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to select a recipient and enter the amount you want to send.

      Hi Nakia,

Thanks for leaving a question on finder.

If you logged in to your online bank account and still does not see the reflection of funds, I suggest that you visit a Chase branch during business hours, or call Chase from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET to follow up and see what is causing the delay. Usually, the transfer will only take 3-5 days.

My wife opened checking account with Chase. She needs to transfer money from bank in Turkey to her new account. The Turkish Bank has requested a 24 digit iban number. What is this number? How do we obtain it?

      Hi Kenneth,

      Thank you for your inquiry.

Generally, International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is an internationally agreed system of identifying bank accounts across national borders to facilitate the communication and processing of cross border transactions with a reduced risk of transcription errors. You can check this with your bank to make sure you have the correct information before you proceed on money transfer process.

I hope this information has helped.
