The basics

The Cathay Pacific Visa Signature® card is one of the few cards to allow direct accumulation of Asia Miles. You can redeem these miles on a variety of travel rewards, including participating hotel stays, car rentals, Cathay Pacific or partner flights and more.

The reward rates aren’t too shabby, letting you earn accelerated miles on both flight and international purchases. And you can earn a solid welcome bonus to help offset the annual fee for the first year.

Where the card stumbles is flexibility: the reward rates are good, but limited. But if you travel primarily in areas serviced by Cathay Pacific and its partners, you might find value in this card.

Bottom line

While the 40,000 intro bonus and access to the Marco Polo Club offer great value for the first year, this card soon falls short if you’re not consistently traveling with Cathay Pacific or its partner airlines.

If you’re looking for a credit card with greater travel perks, compare your options to find one that best suits your needs.
