Alpha only lists a phone number and email address on its website, but no office address.<\/li><li style=\"padding-bottom: 14px;\"><strong>An active name in Quebec\u2019s business database.<\/strong> There are three businesses containing the name \u201cAlpha Loans\u201d in the Quebec business database, but all three names ended before 2024.<\/li><li style=\"padding-bottom: 14px;\"><strong>Reviews.<\/strong> Alpha has limited reviews, most of which are negative. Reviews Alpha Loans customers left on our site have only gotten as high as 1.2 stars out of 5 based on 13 reviews. Customers have complained about harassment, unprofessionalism and high interest rates.<\/li><li><strong>Loan cost transparency. <\/strong>Alpha Loans promotes its interest rates to be under 29%, but it\u2019s not obvious that you could also be charged a $20 weekly membership fee, significantly driving up the cost of your loan.<\/li><\/ul><p>Information above is as of May 7, 2025.<\/p><h3>Features of Alpha Loans<\/h3><p>If you\u2019re thinking about signing up for a loan with Alpha Loans, here are the key features it promotes on its website:<\/p><ul class=\"list-1\"><li><strong>Micro loans.<\/strong> Apply for up to $1,500 in funding.<\/li><li><strong>Apply completely online via instant bank verification.<\/strong> There\u2019s no need to upload documents because Alpha relies on instant bank verification (IBV) instead. With IBV, you\u2019ll simply log onto your online banking so Alpha can receive a read-only copy of your bank statement to confirm your information. Bear in mind that it will also accept the traditional method of document verification via a recent bank statement, pay stub, proof of identity and address.<\/li><li><strong>No credit checks.<\/strong> Alpha says it does not pull your credit during the application process, so borrowers with bad credit or no credit are eligible.<\/li><li><strong>Quick processing of funds.<\/strong> Upon approval, Alpha says it will issue funding on the same day via direct deposit to your bank account.<\/li><\/ul><h3>What to watch out for<\/h3><p>Before signing up, make sure you\u2019re aware of these red flags:<\/p><ul class=\"list-12\"><li><strong>May not be legit.<\/strong> We can\u2019t sign off on Alpha\u2019s legitimacy because of the reasons stated above. As always, you should vet potential lenders carefully before handing over your personal information and signing up for a loan.<\/li><li><strong>Weekly fee.<\/strong> You could be charged a weekly membership fee of $20 as long as there is a balance owing on your account. That could mean an extra $80 every month!<\/li><li><strong>Fixed interest rate.<\/strong> Even if you have perfect credit, you\u2019ll receive the same interest rate as a borrower with bad credit or no credit at all. With excellent credit in tow, you\u2019ll be able to qualify for better interest rates with other lenders.<\/li><li><strong>Caps on loan amounts.<\/strong> You can only borrow up to $1,500, which may not be enough for some borrowers.<\/li><li><strong>Potential for more fees.<\/strong> If you\u2019re late or miss a payment because of non-sufficient funds, you\u2019ll pay a penalty of $60. Alpha Loans also notes that you may incur administration fees, deferral fees, reborrowing fees, maintenance fees and potentially even \u201cmembership\u201d fees, which will drive up the true cost of your loan. Make sure you\u2019re aware of the charges you may face and how much they are before signing off on your loan.<\/li><li><strong>No reference to the option to repay your loan early.<\/strong> While some lenders allow borrowers to pay off some or all of their loan early, and without penalty, Alpha doesn\u2019t suggest this is an option on its website. This is important to know because of the weekly membership fee.<\/li><\/ul><h3 id=\"compare\">Alternatives to Alpha Loans<\/h3><p>Compare legitimate alternatives if you\u2019re looking for a small
