What restrictions are in place for Winnipeg residents?

  • Masks must be worn in all indoor public spaces, on public transport and in areas where large amounts of people are gathering.
  • Two designated people can visit a private household indoors, while outdoor visits can include up to five people.
  • Indoor gatherings or more than 5 people out outdoor gatherings of more than ten people are currently prohibited in public spaces.
  • Funerals and weddings of up to ten people, in addition to the officiant and photographer, are permitted.
  • Restaurants, cafes and bars are open and operating at 50% capacity. Dining venues can accept bookings for guests of the same household only.
  • Gyms and fitness centres, along with indoor sporting facilities, are operating at 25% capacity. A mask must be worn at all times.
  • Places of worship can hold services with no more than 100 people or 25% of the usual capacity (whichever is lower).
  • Museums, galleries and libraries, along with beauty salons, are open at 25% capacity or a maximum of 250 people (whichever is lower).
  • All retail stores are allowed to operate at one-third of the store’s capacity or less than 333 people (whichever is lower).

Are attractions open in Winnipeg?

Most of Winnipeg’s attractions, including museums, art galleries and libraries, are open to the general public. All venues currently operate at 25% of their pre-COVID-19 capacity, and social distancing measures will be in place. Unless exempt, everyone must wear a mask while indoors and keep two metres from other visitors.

Are walking trails and parks open in Winnipeg?

All walking trails and green spaces are open to groups of no more than ten people unless you are all from the same household. While exploring the great outdoors, it’s important to keep at least two metres from others.

Are malls open in Winnipeg?

Yes, malls are currently operating at 33% of their usual capacity or a maximum of 333 people (whichever is lower). Shoppers will still need to wear a mask indoors and keep at least two metres from other people in the mall.

Are hotels open in Winnipeg?

Hotels, motels and lodges are open in Winnipeg. However, communal facilities, including conference rooms, swimming pools and fitness centres, will remain closed.

Do I need to pre-book to visit dining venues and attractions?

With limited capacity, most venues and attractions are now asking visitors to book their slot in advance. When booking your tickets, you will be given a time slot in which you will have to arrive. While some restaurants are accepting walk-ins, with only a quarter of the usual tables available, they will not be able to guarantee a spot.
