Montreal may still be in Quebec’s red zone, but things are looking up for this sprawling city. From 26 February, numerous attractions, including cinemas and malls, opened back up. In this guide, we’ll take a look at the key restrictions still in place and what you can and can’t do in the City of Saints right now.

Some attractions are open. These include cinemas, libraries, zoos, museums, planetariums and walkthroughs. However, all venues are operating at a reduced capacity and must implement social distancing measures. Food kiosks in cinemas remain closed, and gatherings before and after the movie showing are prohibited.

Yes, all walking trails, beaches and parks are open. While out in the city’s green spaces, it’s important to keep a distance from others. You must remain two metres away from others and wear a mask in public spaces.
Yes, malls are open, but they must operate in line with the curfew. This means that all retail outlets must close by 7:30pm. Essential stores, including drug stores and grocery stores, may remain open after this time for delivery services only. Service stations can also open but must not sell alcoholic beverages or tobacco during the curfew.
Yes, hotels, motels and lodges are open, with social distancing measures in place. Hotels can only accept bookings with members of the same household and must operate at a reduced capacity.
With many restrictions still in place, it’s a good idea to book in advance of your visit. Most attractions require visitors to choose time slots before they arrive at the venue to aid social distancing measures.
No, drinking and dining establishments are not open. Many restaurants and cafes are currently offering takeaway and delivery services. To abide by the curfew currently in place, all takeaway pick-ups must end by 7:30pm, and only delivery will be allowed after this point.
