Founded in 2020 as a voluntary coalition of concerned medical professionals, business people and other citizens, the company has strongly advocated for the use of rapid testing across Canada to combat COVID-19. It has also advocated for the approval of low-cost rapid at-home COVID-19 tests in Canada.
Hundreds of businesses across the country have used Rapid Test & Trace products. In addition to operating an online store, the company manages a blog and online resource centre to distribute information related to COVID-19 testing in Canada.

Besides selling COVID-19 test kits online, Rapid Test & Trace also operates 3 drive-through COVID-19 test centres in Calgary, Vancouver and Banff.
Each drive-through test costs between $85 and $350. No appointment is required, although customers can book an appointment online. Test results are available within 15 minutes, after which customers are given a certificate that can be used to travel from Canada to anywhere in the world.
Note that destination countries may have rules on which types of tests are acceptable for international visitors.
How do Rapid Test & Trace home tests work?
Rapid antigen tests offered by Rapid Test & Trace are pretty straightforward. Simply collect a nasal swab, mix it with a water-like “buffer” solution in the bottle provided and squeeze 3 drops of liquid from the bottle onto the reader. Wait 15 minutes, then check your results.
Results will appear as 1 line – a “control line” against which your results are measured – and a space for a second line. If the second line does not appear, there is no COVID-19 in the sample (the result is negative).
If the second line appears, even faintly, then the sample contains COVID-19 (the result is positive). If the result is invalid, you must redo the procedure using a new test.
What is the Rapid Test & Trace refund policy?
If you cancel your order before it has shipped, then you can get a refund. If you paid by credit card, your refund can only be processed on the same card.
Once your order has shipped, it is no longer eligible for a refund or exchange.

The BTNX Rapid Response COVID-19 Antigen Test – the only individual-use COVID-19 test sold by Rapid Test & Trace – has a true positive rate of 78.6%-96.2%.
This means that 78.6%-96.2% of the people who get a positive result from this test do, in fact, have COVID-19. Among symptomatic people who take this test, the true positive rate is 90.2%, according to Health Canada.
The BTNX Rapid Response COVID-19 Antigen Test has a true negative rate of 96.5%-100%, which means that 96.5%-100% of the people who get a negative result from this test don’t have COVID-19.
For comparison, other Health Canada approved rapid antigen tests like the Bd Veritor Kit For Rapid Detection Of SARS-CoV-2 and the Princeton Biomeditech Corp Status COVID-19/flu device have true positive rates of 84% and 93.9% respectively.

Rapid Test & Trace has firmly planted its flag in the COVID-19 testing market, becoming one of the leading providers of rapid antigen tests in Canada. The company’s website is easy to navigate, which makes it easy to order COVID-19 tests online.
The testing process is quick and simple. Plus, we like that Rapid Test & Trace offers multiple types of COVID-19 tests for businesses and organizations to choose from. At the moment, there is only 1 type of COVID-19 test available for individual at-home use. That being said, the company plans to begin offering virtual at-home COVID-19 testing soon.
One downside is that you can’t order single test kits, which would be much more affordable. The minimum order requirements make it a bit pricey to get a hold of a COVID-19 test, especially if you only need 1 or 2.
As one of the early providers of individual-use COVID-19 tests in Canada, Rapid Test & Trace will likely stay ahead of the curve as more innovative and convenient types of COVID-19 testing kits get approved by the government.
