How much does Hyundai Accent car insurance cost?

The average insurance costs for a Hyundai Accent is $261 a month — or $3,132 a year. Because the 2020 Hyundai Accent starts at a base price of $14,949, the annual insurance cost–to–base car price ratio is 21%. Your actual cost could be more or less depending on your driving record, the number of miles you drive in a year and other factors.

Keep in mind that Hyundai has officially discontinued the Accent in Canada following production of the 2020 model. So if you’re looking to own a Hyundai Accent now, you’re probably going to have to look stateside for the sedan model, or opt for a used vehicle.

Hyundai Accent money-saving safety features

You could save money on car insurance for your Hyundai Accent if it comes equipped with these safety features.

  • Anti-lock brakes
  • Stability control
  • Airbags
  • Seat belt pretensioners
  • Anti theft system

How safe is the Hyundai Accent?

The Hyundai Accent has been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for safety ratings. The 2020 model was awarded a 4-Star Overall Safety Rating by the NHTSA. It was awarded 4 out of 5 stars for the rollover and frontal crash tests and a full 5 stars for the side crash test.

The 2019 Accent was listed as one of the IIHS’s Top Safety Picks of the year. It earned “good” ratings in most crashworthiness tests, but only an “acceptable” rating in the small overlap front: passenger-side test. However, this still marks an improvement in ratings compared to prior years.

The Hyundai Accent has anti-lock brakes as well as an airbag system consisting of 2 advanced front airbags, 2 seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and 2 side-curtain roof-mounted airbags. It also has a stability control feature that automatically senses when the driver is losing control of the vehicle and adjusts the engine and brakes accordingly to help keep control of the car.

Bottom line

The Hyundai Accent offers lots of safety features to give you and your passengers a worry-free ride. Depending on factors such as where you live and whether you add any additional security features to your Escape, you could land a discounted rate on car insurance.
