Where to watch Ligue 1 in Canada

Wondering how to watch Ligue 1 in Canada? Catch all the action for the 2022/23 season on beIN SPORTS or fuboTV.

Last season Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) picked up its 8th Ligue 1 title in 10 years. The team has 3 of the greatest footballers currently playing in Mbappé, Messi and Neymar—and that’s just its forward line.

Compared to last season, Ligue 1 has 3 new clubs starting in 2022/23, following the promotion of Toulouse FC, AC Ajaccio and AJ Auxerre. That came at the expense of Bordeaux, Metz and Saint-Étienne, which were relegated in 2022/23 to Ligue 2.

The relegation of Saint-Étienne gives PSG the chance to pull ahead with the most Ligue 1 titles. It’s likely a chance they team will take as a favourite for the title once again, especially given that Messi is even more settled after his first season at the superclub.

In terms of other clubs chasing PSG, Lyon recruited well in the off-season and will look to improve on their uncharacteristic 8th place finish last season. Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso return to the club, with the former being 1 of only 3 current players to have over 100 career goals in Ligue 1. Monaco are also expected to feature near the top of the table this season, as well as last season’s surprise package, Rennes.

2022/23 will also be the last Ligue 1 season to feature 20 teams. In view of the move to 18 clubs in the 2023/24 season, that means 4 clubs will be relegated at the end of this season instead of 3. There will also be no relegation play-offs held at the end of the season.
