History of CryptoCubes Collection

Crypto Cubes are algorithmically created volumetric abstractions created on the Ethereum blockchain as NFT’s. Put more simply, they are 3D cubes built on top of cubes that explore the nuances of colours, shapes and volumes within the digital landscape. They can be thought of as digital collectibles, and are currently available for purchase on Rarible and OpenSea.

CryptoCubes were minted on 04th of October, 2020.

Interestingly, the creator, Han, has made it so owners not only receive a static gif, which is common within the NFT space, but also several 3D files to use in 3D landscapes. Alongside that, users will also receive 2D visuals that are only available for them to see.

At the moment, the floor price for a Crypto Cube is 14 ETH, with its most expensive option on offer for 256 ETH, and totals 144 unique owners.

How to buy CryptoCubes on OpenSea

The all-time average price of CryptoCubes is 4.504 ETH ($6,349), so expect to pay around that cost to secure an NFT in the CryptoCubes collection:
  1. Fund your wallet with cryptocurrency to buy your NFT.
Most NFTs on OpenSea are bought and sold using Ether, the native crypto on the Ethereum blockchain. Make sure you have enough ETH in your wallet to cover the cost of the NFT and any related fees, like gas. If you're a bit short, compare ways to buy ETH to reload your wallet.
  2. Find your NFT on OpenSea
OpenSea has hundreds of thousands of NFTs listed, so consider looking through collections to help narrow down the selection.
  3. Transfer ETH to a web3 wallet
MetaMask is a popular web3 wallet option, and our guide on MetaMask has detailed instructions on how to make the transfer.
  4. Buy your CryptoCubes NFT
When you're ready to make your purchase, click the "Buy Now" button on the specific NFT you're interested in. OpenSea will show you the total cost, including fees, and after purchasing be sure to approve the transaction in your MetaMask wallet.

Evaluating CryptoCubes Collection

It’s important to note that there will only ever be 256 Crypto Cubes, so in essence, the entire collection is one big series. That being said, in an intent to create a newer collection, Han proposed for a CryptoCubes & Creator series, in which each cube is paired with a creator in the NFT world and unique artwork is created.

What’s unique?

  • Famous NFT artists are recreating already existing Cubes to give newer shapes, volumes and colours.
  • 24 hour auctions for new art pieces, allowing for other users to own Cubes in a different way.
  • New name joining for art pieces, giving way to collaborative creating.
Within this new collection, Crypto Cubes are taken to the next level, and have gone beyond simple 3D cube abstractions. Incorporating bodies, natural terrains, artwork done by previous artists, newly discovered colours, classic gaming features, and memes, the CryptoCubes & Creators series has gone to great lengths to enhance the existence of Crypto Cubes within the NFT space.

Key Considerations

  • 256 Cubes. There will only ever be 256 Crypto Cubes available, at least in original format.
  • Unique 2D visualisations. For owners of one of these 256 cubes, there are one-of-a-kind 2D visuals that are only available for their viewing. This is a bonus for those looking to buy a Crypto Cube and want a bit of extra value.
  • Extra use cases. Although most NFTs are simply gifs or jpegs, Crypto Cube owners receive several extra files, such as 3D files which can be used later on in 3D lands, for other uses than simply art.
  • CryptoCubes & Creators collection. Beyond the 256 cubes, there was an effort to vitalise these cubes and use them for more extravagant artworks. That was the aim of this collection, which has harnessed extra attributes to give more life to Crypto Cubes.
