There are currently no COVID-19 testing requirements for domestic travel within Canada. However, you will need to be fully vaccinated to board a plane or train in the country unless you qualify for an exemption from your carrier (usually for medical or work reasons).
Many airports will also test you for symptoms such as fever before you fly and you’ll be denied boarding if you show visible signs of illness in most cases.
The testing requirements you’ll need to fulfill for international travel will vary depending on which country you visit. Each country will have its own system for screening visitors to limit the spread of COVID-19. Your best bet to receive the correct information about testing is to call your airline directly or visit the government website for your destination country.

You should be aware of COVID-19 testing requirements for any country you plan to travel through to get to your final destination. This will ensure that you don’t run into trouble with testing requirements when you’re short on time between flights.
For example, you’ll need to provide proof of an eligible COVID-19 result if you plan to transit through the US on your way to Mexico (which has no COVID test requirements on its own). This is why it’s important to contact your airline well in advance to find out what’s expected.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to cancel your travel plans and rebook your flight for a later date if you test positive. This is why it’s important to call around and find a travel company or airline that will let you cancel or reschedule your travel plans for free (or for a small fee). You’ll want to get the same type of reassurance with hotels, cruises, rental cars and other types of travel reservations.
Another alternative is to invest in travel insurance that covers COVID-19 medical expenses and/or trip cancellation. Ask your insurance provider directly what you’ll be covered for if you get COVID while travelling. This will give you peace of mind that you can financially deal with your trip being cancelled or with having to stay in your destination longer than anticipated.
