What to expect: Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals

Does Carnival have Black Friday sales?

Yes. Carnival loves offering crazy blowouts over Black Friday and Cyber Weekend with discounts and deals galore.

This year is no different with a Cyber Blowout sale running all Cyber Weekend long.

When can I start shopping?

Carnival Cruises’ Cyber sale has already dropped. It’s available until Sunday 29 November but if you don’t want to miss out on the best cabins on the ship you’d best get booking asap.

Carnival deals and doorbusters: How do they compare to previous years?

Want to know if you’re getting the best deal this year? Here’s a sampling of Carnival’s Black Friday deals from previous years to compare them with:

  • Up to 35% off bookings
  • $50 onboard credit on all bookings
  • Discounted deposits – $50 per person

This year the deals aren’t quite as good (30% off instead of 35% off) however you can get a nice cabin upgrade thrown in to make up for it. Plus, bookings are flexible and can be made for sailings until April 2023. That’s a lot of travel you can organise for less.

Is Carnival’s Black Friday sale online only?

No, most cruise lines, including Carnival, will honour deals over the phone, too. But you may need to reference the deal specifically when booking with a sales rep, to make sure the discount is applied to your total.

Cyber Monday deals

Carnival often has Cyber Monday deals, but they haven’t historically been as good as on Black Friday. For example, in 2018 it offered a $50 onboard credit on Black Friday and a $25 onboard credit on Cyber Monday (except for longer sailings, which still got $50).

Our advice? Shop on Black Friday, and if you see a rate you like, book it.

Cruising during the coronavirus pandemic

Ship operators are getting back to advertising cruises now that the CDC’s No Sail order has expired – but it doesn’t mean you’re safe from risk. The CDC issued interim guidelines for operators to mitigate and manage COVID-19 on ships originating or porting from the US.

Guidelines urge the creation of plans that include crew training on preventing and reducing an outbreak, onboard monitoring of symptoms, onboard and offshore training, medical staffing, sufficient PPE, onboard isolation and quarantine and a system of alerting national, state and local authorities.

Look for flexible cancellation policies. Also expect temperature and other health screening, enforcement of social distancing and mask wearing, plus reduced attendance at events and in facilities.
