Historical Rate chart of BTS and CAD
Historical pricing of BitShares
In mid-April, BTS was priced under US$0.01 and within the space of two months, managed to shoot up to US$0.37. BTS then tapered off over the next six weeks, hovering between US$0.05 and US$0.15. This tapering off lasted until December when BTS shot up, reaching a year-end high of US$0.67 on Christmas Day.
BitShares is moving on from bitcoin’s blockchain innovation and aims to provide the world with a currency that can be used to trade any other cryptocurrency.
The market share of bitcoin is declining slowly and you will need to decide if BTS will be able to take advantage of this.
Things to consider before buying BitShares
You can use the BitShares platform to trade BTS against any other cryptocurrency created on the BitShares platform. With other cryptocurrency exchanges, the desired cryptocurrency is purchased, sent to the wallet of the buyer and then held until its owner chooses to act on it.
With BTS, you deposit your money or other cryptocurrency on the BitShares platform. This helps improve security because by maintaining your assets on the BitShares platform, you reduce the risk of losing your assets altogether as a result of losing an e-wallet or losing your passwords. You also won’t have to worry about not having access to your assets in order to sell them before it is too late.
Also, at the time of writing in March 2018, the BitShares’ blockchain technology has not been the victim of a successful cyber hacking attempt.
BitShares is also making partnerships with other companies. For example, Arise Bank, the first decentralized, blockchain-based bank, has announced a partnership with BitShares and will add a pool of liquidity to BTS. BitShares CEO, Stan Larimer, announced this major partnership and that another four major partnerships will be announced early in 2018.
Another feature of the BitShares blockchain is its scalability. Scalability loosely refers to the ability of a blockchain to process a large amount of transactions at any one time. The BitShares platform is billed as having more capacity to settle transactions than the entire NASDAQ put together.
In 2017, over US$500 billion entered the global cryptocurrency market, which saw BTS rise by over 9,000%.
