Candel Therapeutics, Inc. , a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, engages in the development and commercialization of cancer immunotherapy drugs. The company offers Gene Mediated Cytotoxic Immunotherapy technology-based drugs that are designed to work with radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery to eradicate residual tumor cells that could lead to recurrence or metastases. Its product candidates include CAN-2409, an off-the-shelf adenovirus product candidate, for the treatment of localized, primary prostate cancer and therapy for pancreatic cancer; and CAN-3110, its HSV product candidate, has been engineered for enhanced specificity and tumor cell killing, while minimizing toxicity on healthy tissue and indicated for the treatment of recurrent high-grade glioma. The company was formerly known as Advantagene, Inc. and changed its name to Candel Therapeutics, Inc. in November 2020.
