History of Bored Ape Chemistry Club Collection

The Bored Ape Chemistry Club (BACC) is a ‘bolt-on’ NFT collection attached to the extremely successful Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) project. BAYC is a pre-programmed collection of 10,000 NFTs created on the Ethereum blockchain. Each NFT image depicts a ‘bored ape’ which is randomly assigned a selection of 170 traits. Changes to appearance can include different fur, headgear, expressions and more. It has become one of the most prestigious NFT collections in the industry. As a result of the project’s success, it has attracted some serious celebrity interest, and price tags to match. In addition to the value of the NFT, BAYC owners also benefit from occasional airdrops which are sent by the creators, Yuga Labs. One of those airdrops consisted of Bored Ape Chemistry Club NFTs. The BACC consists of 3 different NFTs; the M1 Mutant Serum, M2 Mutant Serum and Mega Mutant Serum. By combining a BACC NFT with a BAYC NFT an owner could create a Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT. According to OpenSea, the Mutant Ape Yacht Club is a collection of 20,000 Mutant Apes. All 10,000 Bored Apes owners received at least one of the mutant ape serums, which could have been used to turn a Bored Ape into Mutant Ape or sold on the open market. The BACC airdrop was completed in August 2021.

How to buy Bored Ape Chemistry Club on OpenSea

Evaluating Bored Ape Chemistry Club Collection

To evaluate the future prospect of Bored Ape Chemistry Club an investor needs to consider the value of Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club.

BAYC is now one of the most prominent NFT collections in the industry. Celebrities that now own a Bored Ape include Jimmy Fallon, three-time NBA champion Stephen Curry, Post Malone, Shaquille O’Neal, billionaire investor Mark Cuban, Timbaland, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, Logan Paul, Steve Aoki, KSI and superstar DJs The Chainsmokers. As a result of the project’s huge success, the associated Bored Ape Chemistry Club is just as sought after.

Like Bored Ape, the new Mutant Apes, which are generated thanks to the BACC mutant serum, have become almost as popular as the original. With this new Bored Ape ecosystem expanding on a monthly basis, interest seems to be holding for BACC.

Out of the 3 serums on offer, the Mega Mutant serum is by far the rarest. Current valuations on OpenSea are approximately 300 times higher than the M1 Mutant Serum and M2 Mutant Serum strains.

Key Considerations

The Bored Ape Chemistry Club is composed 3 different NFTs - all with multiple versions. As a result, unlike other NFT collections, there is not such a broad range of NFTs to choose from. Out of the 3, an investor must decide if they want:

  • M1 Mutant Serum
  • M2 Mutant Serum
  • Mega Mutant Serum
Little is known about the exact properties of each and how they will alter a Bored Ape.

While the selection of BACC NFTs is limited, all investors that are looking at investing need to decide if they are purchasing a mutant serum to resell or purchasing one to turn a Bored Ape into a Mutant Ape. The latter clearly also requires a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT.
