The best time to visit is April to May or September to November when the climate is temperate and there are fewer tourists.

The different seasons in Morocco hold a different appeal depending on your itinerary.

It’s a myth that Morocco is quiet during winter (November to February). Being a warm destination, it’s a great time to travel as the temperatures aren’t too cold and the crowds are minimal. For Canadians, it’s an ideal escape destination from the freezing temperatures.

Morocco is beautiful in spring (mid-March to May) with lush vegetation and the weather is warm and dry.

The summer months of June to August can get quite hot and busy. It also coincides with school holidays, so hotels and resorts get booked up fast. The month of Ramadan or daytime fasting also falls in the summer months and some businesses and transport might be closed. Tourists should avoid drinking, eating or smoking in public during the daytime.

The fall months of September to October are also a popular time to visit both the cities and the coast as the weather is cool and dry. It is an ideal time for hiking.

  • The Sahara Desert: Avoid going in the summer as temperatures are scorching in the day and winter as it is freezing at night. From April to May is the best time.
  • The beach: Visit during summer for longer days and warmer sea temperatures.
  • Hiking: The mild and sunny weather of spring (April – May) and fall (September – October) is ideal for hiking the Atlas Mountains.
  • Skiing: You’re practically guaranteed snowfall during the winter months of mid-January – mid-February – although keep in mind that the ski season is brief.
