Overview

The weather in Maldives is comprised of wet and dry seasons. Dry season is between November and April with peak season between December and March. March tends to be the hottest month of the year. The wet, monsoonal season is between May and October with September being the wettest month.

Maldives is a popular destination for couples and honeymooners from all over the world, so it’s difficult to note a time where you won’t be sharing the islands with loved-up couples; however, avoiding the peak Christmas holiday period will likely grant you a little respite.

Weather and prices

Best time to visit Maldives, weather wise: November to April, as May to October see the most rain. The driest months are February and March, so if you don’t want the weather to dampen your holiday, book during those months.

Cheapest time to visit Maldives: Booking flights and hotels in the off-season between May and October will save you the big bucks, but unless you plan to hole yourself up in your bungalow or dive throughout your trip, it’s not ideal. Book your stay in peak-season early for the cheapest prices.
