A visitor’s guide to finding prepaid SIM cards in Saint Helena

Updated

Fact checked

Local provider Sure is the lone option for prepaid SIMs in Saint Helena.

Reconnected to the rest of world by its first commercial airline flight in October 2017, Saint Helena is a tiny island in the South Atlantic Ocean. It’s part of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, measures just 80 square kilometers in area and is home to 4,534 people.

If you are headed to Saint Helena, your phone’s roaming capabilities are unlikely to work at all. Your best bet on getting service and coverage is to invest in a local prepaid SIM card. You can purchase a SIM card with £10 of credit included for £16.50 (CAD$27.55).

Note that, while Saint Helena has its own currency (SHP) the entire territory uses the British pound (£) so we use that for price quotes in this review.
