Amazon’s Prime Video free trial also includes all the benefits of Amazon Prime
Streaming may be your number one priority, but a Prime Video membership also unlocks a world of perks you need to know about.
It was a long wait for Canadians to have access to Amazon Prime Video, but with incredible original productions and a host of much loved favourites, the streaming service has taken off. Canadians finally have access to many of the benefits US customers have been enjoying for some time, including Amazon Prime. When you sign up to stream TV shows and movies, you also get to take advantage of these bonus features.
Amazon Prime Video free trial
New customers are eligible for a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime Video. There is no lock-in contract and you can cancel whenever you like before the end of the free period without paying a single cent.
You do have to enter your payment details, such as your credit/debit card number, and billing name and address, in order to get access to the free period. Once the free trial period has ended, your account is automatically debited, so keep an eye on the end date if you’re considering cancelling before being charged.
If you do decide to stick around, it costs $5.99 per month to continue the service. That’s relatively cheap in comparison to the competition. Netflix will sting you $8.99 for its lowest-tier plan with standard definition (SD) streaming and one concurrent user, and $10.99 for its mid-tier plan with high definition (HD) streaming and two concurrent users. Prime Video’s one and only plan allows you to stream on three separate devices at once in SD, HD or 4K/UHD depending on the title and the device you’re streaming on.
What else does a Prime Video subscription give me access to?
Becoming a Prime Video member effectively makes you an Amazon Prime member as well. In fact, they are essentially the same subscription, just branded differently. For the Prime Video sign-up price, you’ll also get access to free two-day shipping on eligible Amazon items, free same-day or one-day delivery on eligible Amazon items, free standard shipping on eligible Amazon items or discounted same-day or one-day shipping on eligible Amazon items, no minimum purchase for shipping benefits, access to Prime Music, secure and unlimited storage on Amazon Photos and early access to Lightning Deals on Amazon.ca.
You will need to make sure your postal code is eligible for Amazon Prime shipping benefits, as some remote locations in Canada are ineligible.
