AirAsia's coronavirus (COVID-19) cancellation and changes policy update

As of 20 March, AirAsia has cancelled many flights set to depart and land in Mainland China.

AirAsia is giving all passengers with an existing booking the option to make a one-time flight change departing from the same destination within a period of 90 days from the date the original flight was due to depart.

Alternatively, passengers can opt for a flight credit that is redeemable for 365 days from the date the original flight was scheduled to depart.

These options are available to travellers who purchased tickets prior to 7 March 2020, for flights departing until April 30 2020.

When does AirAsia have promotions, and what are the best AirAsia sales?

AirAsia runs about four MegaSales per year, averaging about once per season. The dates are not strictly set and do change around a bit, but you can expect to see one every few months. During these sales, we’ll often see:

AirAsia | Pros and Cons

Pros

  • AirAsia is known for its bargain basement airfares. The airline has even been known to give away free tickets.
  • Only pay for what you need: If you’re not going to eat an in-flight meal, watch a movie at your seat or bring more than a carry-on bag, then you don’t have to pay for it.
  • Award-winning airline: Air Asia has been dubbed the “World’s Best Low-Cost Airline” for the last seven years by Skytrax and the “World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Website” at the World Travel Awards 2015.

Cons

  • Pay for what you get: If you’re used to full-service airlines, you may be surprised to find yourself having to pay for everything that’s not your seat.
  • Limited routes: Air Asia only flies within Asia Pacific.
