When to use gloves during the COVID-19 pandemic

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend wearing gloves to protect against the spread of COVID-19 and variants like Delta and Omicron in two main situations:

  • When cleaning. Read all cleaning product labels, especially if they specify whether to use disposable or reusable gloves.
  • When caring for someone who is sick. Use disposable gloves when caring for a sick loved one, especially if you come into frequent contact with bodily fluids such as saliva.

Throw out disposable gloves after every use. After removing and disposing of your gloves, it is recommended to thoroughly wash your hands with soapy water for at least 20 seconds.

Refer to the CDC's guidelines for more information about when to wear gloves during the pandemic.
