Shorting Ellomay Capital shares

There are currently 89 Ellomay Capital shares held short by investors – that's known as Ellomay Capital's "short interest". This figure is 1.1% down from 90 last month.

There are a few different ways that this level of interest in shorting Ellomay Capital shares can be evaluated.

Ellomay Capital's "short interest ratio" (SIR)

Ellomay Capital's "short interest ratio" (SIR) is the quantity of Ellomay Capital shares currently shorted divided by the average quantity of Ellomay Capital shares traded daily (recently around 1112.5). Ellomay Capital's SIR currently stands at 0.08. In other words for every 100,000 Ellomay Capital shares traded daily on the market, roughly 80 shares are currently held short.

However Ellomay Capital's short interest can also be evaluated against the total number of Ellomay Capital shares, or, against the total number of tradable Ellomay Capital shares (the shares that aren't held by "insiders" or major long-term shareholders – also known as the "float"). In this case Ellomay Capital's short interest could be expressed as 0% of the outstanding shares (for every 100,000 Ellomay Capital shares in existence, roughly 0 shares are currently held short) or 0% of the tradable shares (for every 100,000 tradable Ellomay Capital shares, roughly 0 shares are currently held short).

Such a low SIR usually points to an optimistic outlook for the share price, with fewer people currently willing to bet against Ellomay Capital.

Ellomay Capital share dividends

We're not expecting Ellomay Capital to pay a dividend over the next 12 months.

Have Ellomay Capital's shares ever split?

Ellomay Capital's shares were split on a 1:10 basis on 8 June 2011. So if you had owned 10 shares the day before before the split, the next day you'd have owned 1 share. This wouldn't directly have changed the overall worth of your Ellomay Capital shares – just the quantity. However, indirectly, the new 900% higher share price could have impacted the market appetite for Ellomay Capital shares which in turn could have impacted Ellomay Capital's share price.

Ellomay Capital share price volatility

Over the last 12 months, Ellomay Capital's shares have ranged in value from as little as $10.565 up to $37.58. A popular way to gauge a stock's volatility is its "beta".

ELLO.US volatility(beta: 1.28)Avg. volatility(beta: 1.00)LowHigh

Beta is a measure of a share's volatility in relation to the market. The market (NYSE MKT average) beta is 1, while Ellomay Capital's is 1.2833. This would suggest that Ellomay Capital's shares are more volatile than the average for this exchange and represent, relatively-speaking, a higher risk (but potentially also market-beating returns).
