Cancellation, refund and change policies

Cancellations made at least five days before the rental start date are refundable. However, you will be charged the 10% service fee. Cancellations made within five days of the rental start time are nonrefundable.

Boatsetter will consider issuing refunds under extenuating circumstances when cancellations are made due to:

  • Death in the family
  • Natural disasters such as hurricanes
  • Political unrest
  • A problem with the boat that is the owner’s fault
  • Listing inaccuracies

To change the date of your reservation, reach out to the owner directly with an inquiry. Whether or not you can make changes is up to them.

What is Boatsetter?

Boatsetter is a peer-to-peer boat rental company, basically the Airbnb of boats. It offers a platform for boat owners to list their vessels, which people can search for by location and pay to rent.

You’ll find all kinds of boats on Boatsetter, from pontoons to speed boats, yachts, fishing boats and even jet skis. There are also boats that specialize in bachelor and bachelor parties. Renters can decide if they want a captain to come along.

Boatsetter has rentals available all around the country, at a wide variety of price points. For example, you could rent a pontoon boat in Portage, Michigan starting at $150 for a half day, or a double-decker ship — complete with a slide — in Clearwater, Florida starting at $650 for a half day.

Traveling during COVID-19
The CDC advises postponing travel to protect yourself and your family from getting or spreading COVID-19. If you plan to travel during the pandemic, monitor the risk assessment levels for your destination when planning your trip, before departure and on arrival. Follow safety measures that include wearing a mask in public, social distancing and washing your hands. If you are diagnosed with, have symptoms of or are waiting for test results for COVID-19 — or are otherwise at risk of illness — do not attend gatherings or travel for 14 days.
