Bloomingdale’s enforces special return policies for specific items, so be sure to read the fine print before finalizing your purchase on:
Yes, for most items. If it’s an item that Bloomingdale’s accepts for return, you can exchange it within 365 days of your purchase.
Note that some dresses and other items are tagged with a black plastic tag — called a “B tag.” You cannot return or exchange these items after you’ve removed the B tag. This is to prevent what Bloomingdale’s calls “wardrobing,” whereby you wear an item of clothing out once or twice, returning it after for a full refund.
Yes, returns on online orders are always free! Simply return your item with a receipt for a refund in your original payment or without a receipt for store credit.
To return an item to the store:
Bloomingdale’s doesn’t provide its returns address directly on its site. But your prepaid shipping label will include the correct address for your return — just stick in on the outside of your returns box.
With the implementation of “B tags” a few years back, Bloomingdale’s has begun cracking down on returns for worn items, despite a fairly lax returns policy. Customers online complain they were unable to get their money back on specific clothing items they believed they could return. Our advice is to leave the B tag intact until you are certain you’re keeping the item.
Back to topBloomingdale’s runs periodic promotions that it automatically applies to your order, even if you don’t have a promo code. For instance, you might see free shipping applied to your order, even if you’re not a Loyalist member and didn’t spend $150 or more. You could even score an extra 25% off without having to use a promo code if you happen to shop during one of these events.
Browse the site’s extensive sale and clearance pages to snag the lowest prices on a full line of merchandise. Search these hot deals by department, item type, designer, color, size and price.
If you frequently shop at Bloomingdale’s, there’s no reason you shouldn’t become a free Loyalist member. You’ll earn points that you can use toward discounts on future orders.

Bloomingdale’s is part of shopping history, especially when it comes to the evolution of the department store. In fact, some might say that Bloomingdale’s was the first department store ever, dating back to 1872, when its founders, the Bloomingdale brothers, opened a shop in New York that sold a wide range of women’s clothing, not just one specialty.
This well-known retailer was also the first to feature a designer shopping bag. Artist Joseph Kinigstein designed a unique shopping bag for a special “Esprit de France” promotion in 1961. Although the bag didn’t even include the store’s name, shoppers everywhere recognized the bag as from none other than the iconic Bloomingdale’s.
For the most part, today’s shoppers still view Bloomingdale’s as a tried-and-true fashion company — even if one their parents and grandparents loved. New Yorkers still look to Bloomie’s on 59th Street for gifts, housewares and even the occasional afternoon frozen yogurt.
However, you’ll find quite a few online complaints about the brand’s in-store employees and online customer service representatives, which they call rude and unhelpful.
The Bloomingdale’s story starts in the late 19th century, when two brothers, Joseph and Lyman Bloomingdale, introduced their Ladies’ Notions shops in New York. Hoop skirts soon after became a fad. In 1872, they opened their East Side Bazaar to sell a wide variety of women’s fashions — essentially creating the first department store.
By opening branches one after another through promotional advertising and bringing in new lines and brands, Bloomingdale’s experienced rapid growth. Today, the company is one of the leading upscale department stores in the United States, selling top designer brands like Gucci, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and many more.
Call Bloomingdale’s customer support 24/7 at 1-800-777-0000. If you have a question or issue related to your Bloomingdale’s credit card, try calling 1-888-257-6762 instead.
To send a secure email, complete the online contact form on the Bloomingdale’s contact page. Or try sending the company a message on Facebook, where they typically respond within an hour.
You can find Bloomingdale’s on most major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Pinterest. Scroll through its Instagram page to find pics of shopping celebrities, like Sarah Jessica Parker, in Bloomingdale’s stores. You’ll find similar posts on Facebook, along with events taking place at a Bloomie’s near you.
True to its history, Bloomingdale’s today carries an extensive list of designer brands and in a wide range of sizes, especially for women. With free shipping for Loyalist members and free returns for everyone, Bloomingdale’s makes online shopping as iconic as its name.
