Fancy a meal delivery from Uber Eats? We’ve listed every restaurant in Ghent that lets you use the service.

The second-largest municipality in Belgium, Ghent is also home to the 10-day Ghent Festival, which brings an additional 1-1.5 million visitors each year.

Hungry visitors.

That’s part of the reason why Uber Eats expanded to the region in November 2017. Uber Eats is a standalone mobile app from the creators of Uber that allows you to order takeout food delivery from your favorite restaurants and have it brought to your door by an Uber Eats delivery driver.

There is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from, including several vegetarian options. Ghent has an entire day of the week (Thursday) dedicated to vegetarian meals and has the most vegetarian restaurants per capita in the world.

When you download the free app to your Android or iPhone, enter your physical address and Uber Eats will give you a list of restaurant partners in your area. Browse their menus and select items to order with a swipe of your finger. When you’re ready to check out, you can use your Uber account to pay, meaning you never have to have a currency transaction with the delivery driver.

When the order is complete, the app will track your order as it is prepared and picked up by an Uber Eats driver. From there, the app will use the GPS in the driver’s car to pinpoint your order on a grid map connecting your location and that of the restaurant. You will also get a constantly-updated estimated time of arrival.

Uber Eats is operational in Ghent from 11am-11pm, 7 days a week. There is no minimum order purchase but there is a €2.50 booking fee per order. Expected delivery times are 30 minutes or less.

How long has Uber Eats been in Belgium?

Uber Eats first came to Belgium on 20 October 2016, with Brussels selected as the first city to receive the app. It has since expanded to Antwerp and Liege.

What should I do if there is a problem with my order?

Always go through the support feature on the Uber Eats app rather than approach the restaurant or the driver about a complaint. Uber Eats has a 24/7 support team in place to act as your go-to point for correcting mistakes in the ordering process.

Can I still use Uber Eats if I have a food allergy and need to modify my order?

If you need an item modified or an ingredient removed, you can request this by using the “Special Instructions” field near the end of the ordering process on Uber Eats. If the restaurant cannot fulfill your request, it is asked to contact you by Uber Eats to inform you.

If you have a severe or life-threatening allergy, your best bet would be to call the restaurant before ordering online so that you can talk to a manager or someone who knows how the food is prepared. This person will be able to let you know if the restaurant is capable of serving you safely.
