If buying a nontoxic, eco-friendly and 100% natural latex mattress is important to you, consider springing for an Avocado. While you’ll pay a little more for this green mattress than with some if its competitors, lots of online reviewers believe they got a good value for the quality of the materials.
Avocado also offers a vegan option without wool and is one of the few online mattress brands to do so. But there is only one firmness option, so if you’re picky about softness, you might want to look at other brands.
Green mattress | Like its name suggests, this mattress is handmade using 100% natural latex, natural wool and certified organic cotton. All materials are harvested from sustainable, eco-friendly sources. |
Vegan mattress | The brand’s newest mattress is 100% vegan, so you won’t find any wool here. Otherwise, this bed is identical to the Green mattress. |
Avocado mattress prices range from $959 for a twin to $1,699 for a California king. The price is the same for both the Green and Vegan mattress models.
Avocado’s website is secured using Comodo Internet Security, so you can safely enter your credit card information at checkout. Pay for your order using Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.
Yes, Avocado offers financing options through Affirm. Qualifying customers could get rates as low as 0% APR. Once approved, you can choose the loan option that best fits your budget. Plus, you should receive an approval decision nearly instantly.
The Avocado Green mattress is made of 100% natural latex rubber, natural wool and organic cotton. The Vegan option swaps out the wool for organic cotton. Both mattresses also contain an eight-inch layer of individually pocketed coils for optimal spinal support, reduced motion transfer and weight distribution. These mattresses are handmade in the US without using toxic chemicals or petroleum-based polyurethane foams.
While you can use a box spring if you choose to, Avocado suggests using a firmer, nonyielding surface like a platform bed or solid mattress foundation. If you already have a box spring, you can try adding a bunkie board in between it and your new mattress to help provide better support.
Avocado’s relatively new to the mattress game, and so it’s hard to say for sure how long its mattresses might last. But we do know that the company offers a generous 25-year limited warranty, which is around 15 years longer than many other online mattress brands.
In general, latex mattresses tend to be durable and may last longer than memory foam options.
While you shouldn’t ever flip your Avocado mattress, the company does recommend rotating it head to foot once per month for the first six months, then once every three months after that. This should help your mattress to wear evenly.

Avocado is relatively new to the online mattress world, but its customers are already lining up to write rave reviews about its products. Most customers have been pleased with the comfort of their new bed, as well as the fact that there are no chemical smells that have to dissipate.
