Reviews and complaints: Is ASOS legit?

Yes, ASOS is a legit online retailer with a responsive customer service team and reputation for making of-the-moment trends available to the masses.

ASOS has a Great rating on Trustpilot, with about 4 out of 5 stars compiled from over 78,200 reviews. Hundreds of happy shoppers report that ASOS customer service was helpful and friendly. On the other hand, a few disgruntled reviews complain about poor product quality and customer service reps who could have done a better job. Still, over 60% of reviewers gave ASOS 5 out of 5 stars, which is a pretty solid reputation in the world of fast fashion.

On Reddit and fashion chat boards around the Internet, people seem to agree that what you see is what you get with ASOS. The flexible return policy means that you can get your money back if you change your mind.

I shopped at ASOS quite a bit when I was in fashion school because I wanted to look stylish but didn’t have a lot of extra money to spend. The trick is to keep your expectations realistic. If you spend $10 on a silky slip dress, the quality will be worthy of $10 and nothing more — so it might be the type of thing you wear to a few parties then get rid of. The same goes for shoes. While ASOS has some really cool shoes for sale, they usually only lasted me for a season or two.

If you’re looking for some pieces to refresh your wardrobe on a budget, ASOS is a good place to shop. But if you want to invest in your wardrobe and buy clothes that’ll look great in 5 or even 10 years, you might be disappointed.

I love shopping at ASOS when I’m looking for something specific. And with such a huge selection, I’ve almost always found it, no matter how obscure. Gray cotton-blend button-down T-shirt with a split back? Found it!

Prices are fairly low, yet quality is pretty consistent compared to similar sites. I also had luck with their maternity department during my pregnancy. I still wear their comfy, stretchy leggings to this day.

The only downside I’ve found is inconsistency with sizing. One maternity sundress I bought was cut impossibly small and narrow across the chest — and for maternity clothing that’s meant to be forgiving, that one was unforgivable.

What brands does ASOS sell?

ASOS has its own line called ASOS Design, which is known for super trendy pieces as budget-friendly prices. It also sells clothing, accessories and shoes from over 850 other brands, including well-known labels like Free People, Nike and Adidas.

Some of my favorite brands to shop at ASOS are:

  • Brave Soul
  • French Connection
  • Hunkemoller
  • Influence
  • I Saw It First
  • NA-KD
  • Noisy May
  • Only
  • Peek & Beau
  • Topshop

ASOS sizing

Since ASOS sells clothing from such a wide array of brands, check the size chart for the item you’re interested in to confirm what size to buy. Even better, get out a measuring tape and make sure the circumferences of your chest, waist and hips match the size you choose.

When in doubt, we recommend sizing up since ASOS clothes tend to run on the smaller side compared to brands like Aerie and Target.

Does ASOS have plus sizes?

Yep! ASOS has a great selection of plus-size apparel, swimwear and lingerie for both men and women. Check out ASOS Curve for its fashion-forward in-house label.

Does ASOS have men’s and women’s sizes?

Yep! ASOS has clothes for both men and women.
