What can you expect from the Apple iPhone 6 Plus? finder.com reviews.
We take a closer look at Apple’s latest offering with our Apple iPhone 6 Plus review. The launch has Apple fanatics all worked up, with dozens of people already queueing up to get their hands on the latest Apple iPhone.
The question is: what can you expect from the iPhone 6 Plus?
What are the tech specs of the Apple iPhone 6 Plus?
First things first: the iPhone 6 Plus is big, with a 5.5-inch display and a pixel density of 401 per inch. This makes it comparable with the Samsung Galaxy S5, which features a 5.1-inch screen with a 432 pixel per inch density.
Weight-wise, the iPhone 6 Plus is a mere 172 grams, which is fairly light when you consider its size (the iPhone 5 weighs 112g). The smartphone is 7.1mm thick.
According to Apple, the iPhone 6 Plus will be 50 times faster than the original iPhone, and have a 25% increase on the power of the 5. It features a new chip called the A8, which is a 64-bit custom processor, allowing for a faster experience.
What is the iPhone 6 Plus’s battery life like?
The iPhone 6 Plus has a slightly improved battery life, with up to 12 hours of 4G browsing, 24 hours of talk time, and up to 384 hours of standby time. It isn’t the biggest battery life on the market, but anyone who’s dealt with the iPhone 5’s poor battery life for the last year will find this extended usage time a sweet relief.
How does the iPhone 6 Plus camera compare?
Start practising your best selfie pose: the iPhone 6 Plus features a front-facing HD camera that captures 81% more light and has improved face detection. Burst mode allows you to take 10 photos per second, so you can imagine it’ll be a little like your own personal photobooth.
The new iPhone 6 Plus also sees the launch of the iSight camera. It’s an 8MP camera that features 1.5-micron pixels, a f/2.2 aperture, focus pixels, improved face detection, and exposure control. The iPhone 6 Plus’s superior element to the iPhone 6 is in the optical image stabilisation. If you’re not a tech-savvy person (and there’s a few of us out there), the long and short of it is that better quality photos are now easier to take than ever.
The video camera also gets the works. For the first time, Apple allows you to create time-lapse videos with your phone. The 1080p HD camera also allows for continuous autofocus, cinematic video stabilization, a more dramatic slo-mo video, and shoots in 60 frames per second.
What is the Apple Pay feature of the iPhone 6 Plus?
One of the biggest updates to the Apple iPhone 6 Plus is the ability to make payments with your phone via Apple Pay. It uses a Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna to allow you to make payments near any contactless reader by holding your finger on the Touch ID. A subtle vibration will let you know that your payment was successful. Forgot your wallet? No problem.
If you already have an iTunes account, then your credit or debit card details are already saved. Apple claims this will improve security, as your debit or credit card details will never be shared with merchants or transmitted with payment. The fingerprint technology means that even if your phone is stolen, the thief will unable to use your card – short of taking your finger with your phone, that is.
What styles does the iPhone 6 Plus come in?
Apple’s latest phones will come in gold, silver, or space gray. Are you prone to dropping your phone but don’t want to sacrifice the style? Apple is releasing two Apple-designed cases; a leather or silicone option.
Will I be able to use my iPhone 5 charger with the iPhone 6 Plus?
Yes! In good news to Apple fanboys and girls everywhere, the same charger you had for your iPhone 5 or iPad 4 will work on the iPhone 6 models. The same goes for other accessories, such as cables. Sorry, iPhone 4 users – you’ll need to find other uses for your old chargers.
How much will the iPhone 6 Plus cost?
The iPhone 6 Plus will start at $549.
When does the iPhone 6 Plus come out?
The release date is set for September 19. Start waiting, people… you’ve got a line ahead of you.
