FORTH is the native governance token of Ampleforth, a cryptocurrency project focused on creating an algorithmic US dollar stablecoin known as AMPL. Developed using the Ethereum blockchain, Ampleforth differentiates itself from other stablecoin projects by algorithmically increasing or decreasing AMPL’s supply depending on the market’s demand for the token.
This process is known as “rebasing” and is done every 24 hours.
According to the project’s website, as a result of the daily changes in supply and demand, the number of AMPL tokens that any user holds constantly changes. By automatically adjusting to supply and demand, tokens are either added or removed to users’ cryptocurrency wallets. As a result of this unique tokenomic architecture, AMPL is not correlated to changes in the cryptocurrency markets and helps to solve inelasticity issues that arise from sudden shocks in demand. FORTH is the project’s native governance token, that allows users to vote on changes in the protocol. Votes can also be delegated to other users. The aim of FORTH is to create a community-driven protocol that allows users to have authority over the direction of the network.
