The best prices are on flights to the Northwest and to sunny cities in Florida and Hawaii.

Alaska Airlines’ Safety Dance sale advertises flights from $39 one way — but we’re seeing rates as low as $29 right now. The discounted rates are for flights departing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from January 26th to May 26th this year, though you’ll have to book by midnight on Thursday to get the deal.

  • Alaska Airlines is waiving change and cancellation fees on all tickets purchased by March 31st.

Many of the cheap tickets are to warm-weather places like Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix and San Diego. You’ll also find flights to and from Hawaii for less than $100. Since this sale is good for travel through May 26th, you could plan a socially distanced spring break trip straight to the beach.

There are also lots of options for travel to Seattle and Portland, so if you’re looking to tick some Northwestern states off your bucket list, now’s the time. We can see it now … a cheap flight to Seattle … a drive into Mount Rainier National Park or Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest … and a super cozy Airbnb cabin for long nights cuddled up by the fire. Or if you’re starting in Seattle, head to Burbank for a cool $59 and drive to Filmore to stay in a treehouse, or down to San Diego for an overnight above the waves.

The lowest rates are for Saver tickets, while Main cabin tickets are more expensive. Main tickets tend to cost between $10 to $30 more and include seat selection, first dibs on boarding and overhead bin space.

Blackout dates

  • The sale doesn’t apply to flights from February 11th to February 25th

Traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic
If you plan to travel during the pandemic, monitor and understand the risk assessment levels for your destination when planning your trip, before departure and on arrival. Follow safety measures that include wearing a mask in public settings, maintaining social distancing and washing your hands. If you are diagnosed, have symptoms of or are waiting for test results for COVID-19 — or are otherwise at risk of illness — do not host, attend gatherings or travel for 14 days. Note that the CDC warns against cruise travel at this time.
