You don’t have to study for years to score a dream job.

While most statistics will tell you that without a four-year college degree, you’re likely to earn a significantly lower salary over the course of your career, this doesn’t mean you can’t obtain a well-paying, satisfying job.

Online jobs portal CareerCast.com analyzed information obtained from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the 2017 Jobs Rated report, to determine some of the best occupations available, not requiring a college degree.

Their assessment considered annual median salaries, forecast hiring outlooks and the recommended level of education required to get started in a particular line of work.

The results revealed healthcare to be one of the most plentiful and optimal sectors for job seekers without a four-year college degree. Of the top 10 ranked jobs not requiring a degree, almost half were in healthcare.

However, there are some educational requirements for particular positions. For example, medical records technicians, medical sonographers and respiratory therapists recommend associate degree qualifications.

For most of the careers listed, local community colleges generally offer flexible learning and apprenticeship courses, which can assist applicants in obtaining any necessary training to get started in a range of industries.

A career in information technology as a web developer pays an annual median salary of $66,130 and is suitable for those seeking flexible contract work. The growth outlook for these careers is also appealing at 27%.

Plumbers also fare well, with an annual median salary of $50,620. While the growth outlook over the next eight years for a plumber is lower, at 12%, there exists scope for individual business ownership.
